This filmed version was realised in 2026 at the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels, exactly 30 years after Wim Van Hasselt and Koen Plaetinck first began studying there together in 1996. Captured shortly before the conservatoire’s major renovation, it stands as a tribute to the institution where their shared artistic journey began. Silver Hat is an original work by ART’uur written by Koen Plaetinck, commissioned by Tom Seynaeve. In this video this composition for solo trumpet is performed by Wim Van Hasselt, set in a desolate and melancholic 3D landscape. Music and image merge into a world of stillness, alienation and faded beauty. The abandoned setting and dreamlike atmosphere deepen the work’s introspective character, evoking themes of memory, transience and quiet melancholy.
